Tasting Notes:

Torbreck Vintners Barossa Valley Cuvée Juveniles GMS 2023 is a masterful homage to the great bistro wines of the Rhône, yet unmistakably Barossan in its energy and intensity. This 2023 release blends 48% Grenache, 28% Mataro, 13% Carignan, 6% Counoise, and 5% Shiraz—showcasing the complexity and diversity of old vine Barossa fruit alongside carefully planted Rhône varietals.

The cooler, rain-imbued 2023 growing season delivered wines of profound structure and freshness, with late harvest timing allowing full flavour development. Bright magenta with ruby hues, the bouquet bursts with red cherry, currant, and boysenberry, supported by white pepper, Chinese five spice, and a whiff of beef jerky from Mataro. Carignan and Counoise lift the profile with savoury spice, offering a wine that is textured, medium-bodied, and beautifully balanced by vibrant acidity and fine, persistent tannins.

Crafted to seduce both Francophiles and Barossa faithful alike, this bistro-style wine is approachable in youth but has the pedigree to reward cellaring. Perfect with charcuterie, duck breast, or a rich ratatouille.

Awarded 94 Points by James Suckling, this bottling continues Torbreck’s legacy as one of Robert Parker’s Top 100 Wine Estates in the World and a 5 Red Star Rated Winery by James Halliday.

Accolades & Awards:

94 Point Rated, James Suckling Wine Spectator

"Aromas of graphite, slate, and dark berry with some nutmeg. Medium-bodied with attractive fruit and fine, delicate tannins that give form to the wine and deliver fresh and medium fruit on the finish. So drinkable and delicious. Very savory. The crushed black pepper really comes through. 47% grenache, 32% mataro, 10% carignan, 9% counoise, and 2% syrah."
